Why can’t artificial snow match up to the champagne powder that falls from the sky?
Why can’t artificial snow match up to the champagne powder that falls from the sky in powder-skiing destinations like Utah, Colorado, and Hokkaido? We know that blowing snow from a hose is fundamentally limited by physics to never be as good as the real thing. Our founders are two atmospheric scientists with a deep knowledge of the physics of ice crystal growth, and we’ve built a snowmaking system that can produce cold, dry, light powder just like the real thing. We’ve been steadily building more powerful and capable machines, and now we’ve begun work on our Cloud 3, which will be churning out fresh powder each morning on a run at Nordic Valley ski resort in 2025/26.
