Why can’t artificial snow match up to the champagne powder that falls from the sky in powder-skiing destinations like Utah, Colorado, and Hokkaido? We know that blowing snow from a hose is fundamentally limited by physics to never be as good as the real thing. Our founders are two atmospheric scientists with a deep knowledge of the physics of ice crystal growth, and we are building a snowmaking system that can produce cold, dry, light powder just like the real thing. We successfully built our first benchtop demonstration prototype in 2020, and we’ve now completed our next, much larger prototype that will allow skiers to sample our snow in Fall 2024.
